The Dixie Art Colony has scheduled seven exhibits Friday and Saturday during the annual TallasseeNOW! RiverFest presented by the Tallassee Community Development Corp.
All of the exhibits will be within walking distance in downtown Tallassee.
The Dixie Art Colony was founded to put greater emphasis on the research, documentation and preservation of the legacy of central Alabama's unique and historic Dixie Art Colony.
In addition to the exhibits, a special brochure entitled "A Visual History of Tallassee” will be available at both DAC Foundation presentations at the Mt. Vernon Theatre.
The first, “The Dixie Art Colony: A Look at its Lasting Legacy,” is Friday from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. A 17-minute video will chronicle the history of the DAC, which began in 1933 near Tallassee at Camp Dixie on Lake Martin.
“A History of Tallassee Through the Eyes of an Artist” will be held Friday from 7 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the Mt Vernon Theatre. The slide presentation and lecture will center on the four mural-sized oil paintings by Dixie Art Colony artists Kelly Fitzpatrick and Arthur Stewart located in the lobby of Trustmark Bank at 304 Barnett Blvd., across the street from the theatre.

The exhibition of artwork by Dixie Art Colony artists will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. A reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the bank lobby.
The Elmore County Art Guild exhibition will be held at Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the former Patterson Building, now RESTORATION 49, located at 101 North Ann St. A reception and awards ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday and refreshments will be served, according to event coordinators.
The Tallassee Youth Art Exhibit will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at RESTORATION 49. The exhibition will include a variety of local area artists.
